Visit statistics (no cookies)
We count visits with Magpie Metrics, our own analytics service on our own server in the Netherlands. It records the page you visit, the referring site, browser and device type, and your country. Your IP address is used only to derive the country and is not stored. No cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device, so you cannot be recognised across sites or over time; the anonymous visitor identifier is recalculated every month.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Session recording (only with your consent)
If you click Allow in the cookie settings, Magpie Metrics also records anonymized interactions such as clicks, scrolling and page navigation. We may replay them, and combine them into heatmaps, to see how visitors use the site. Text typed into form fields is masked and never recorded.
Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time via Cookie settings; recording stops immediately.
What is stored on your device
One item in your browser's local storage, c418_consent, remembers your answer
in the cookie settings so we do not ask on every page. It is strictly necessary for that
purpose and never leaves your browser. If you start a payment, Paddle (below) may set the
cookies its checkout needs to work.
Payments
Payments on this site are handled by Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as merchant of record: Paddle, not us, processes your payment details, under Paddle's privacy policy. We receive your name, email address and what you bought, to deliver it and for our accounting (performance of a contract and a legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(b) and (c) GDPR).
If you email us, we use your message and address only to answer you, and keep them as long as the conversation is relevant, at most two years after the last message.
Who else is involved
- netcup GmbH (Germany) hosts this site.
- Cloudflare, Inc. delivers the site and the statistics requests and protects them from abuse; it sees request metadata, including your IP address, and operates under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
- Paddle, only if you make a payment.
We do not sell your data, show ads or use third-party trackers.
How long we keep it
Visit statistics: as long as the site runs; they cannot be tied to you. Session recordings: as long as they help us improve the site, then deleted; they contain no typed text. Payment records: 7 years, as Dutch tax law requires.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable form. Email us and we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
