You Can't Catch Me — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
This policy covers the You Can't Catch Me apps for Android and iPhone (you.cantcatch.me). The website youcantcatch.me is covered by its own policy.
Who we are. The apps are published by Code 418, a trade name of Aardvark Hosting, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 68957157. Contact: imateapot@code-418.com.
The short version
We do not collect personal data and we receive nothing from the game. Optional tips are handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store. The optional weekly scoreboard is run by Apple Game Center or Google Play Games, not by us.
Details
- The game runs offline. The whole game ships inside the app and makes no network requests of its own.
- Optional tips. From version 1.2.4 you can buy an optional tip (bronze, silver or gold) that unlocks a Supporter badge. The purchase is handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not receive your name, account or payment details. The app only learns which tips you own, so it can show your badge.
- Internet permission on Android. From version 1.2.4 the Android app holds the internet permission, because Google Play Billing (the component that handles tips) requires it. Google uses it to process purchases and to send Google diagnostic information about the purchase process. The game itself still makes no network requests. On iPhone, purchases go through StoreKit, which is part of iOS.
- Scoreboard. From version 1.2.5 the app has weekly scoreboards. After a completed week it sends two numbers, that week's savings and the number of smugglers you caught, to Apple Game Center on iPhone or Google Play Games on Android, where they appear on a public leaderboard next to your Game Center or Play Games name and avatar. Signing in to these services is done by Apple or Google with your own account, and you can decline or sign out at any time; the game works the same without it. Google Play Games services also collects technical diagnostic and crash information about its own component. We never receive your name, account or scores; Apple and Google process them under their own privacy policies, and you can delete your scores and game profile through Game Center or your Google account.
- No tracking. There are no app accounts, ads, analytics, crash reporters of our own or advertising IDs. The third-party components are Google Play Billing and Google Play Games services on Android, and StoreKit and Game Center (part of iOS) on iPhone.
- Data on your device. Your game progress and settings (campaign, unlocked airports, purchased equipment, language, game speed, sound, tutorial completed) and which tips you own are stored only on your device. We cannot access them. Uninstalling the app deletes them; tips can be restored from your store account.
- Android backup. If Android Backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include this game data in your device backup, stored in your own Google account under Google's privacy policy. We have no access to it. You can turn this off in your phone's backup settings.
- Ratings. After a completed week the app may show the store's own rating dialog. Any rating or review you leave goes to Google Play or the App Store, not to us.
- Sharing your ending. When you tap "Share your ending", the app creates an image of your result and a short line of text, and hands them to your phone's share sheet. Nothing is sent unless you pick an app to share with. What happens next is governed by that app's privacy policy.
Children
The game is not directed at children under 13 and we collect no data from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data from the apps, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. For purchases and scoreboards, contact Google Play or Apple, who process them. If you have a question or a complaint, email imateapot@code-418.com. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority in your country.
Changes
If a future version of the apps changes how data is handled, for example by adding advertising, we will update this policy before that version is released and change the date above.
